The lawyers have been engaged and we are currently searching the titles as the property holds two titles due to the way it was sub divided. In actual fact the property holds 3 titles but one of the titles is not in the package. When the subdivision happened, many, many years ago, there was a wee section at the side that was given to someone. You are probably wondering why I say someone and not the person, well, a thing I have learnt is that land in the Bahamas gets passed from family to family and the keeping of records is well challenging. Once I have been given approval to purchase the pink house I will begin the search for the 3rd title to make the property complete, another journey to stay tuned for.
The forms for the government have been completed and lodged, as I mentioned in a previous post due to the fact that I am not a citizen of the Bahamas I must get approval from the Bahamian Governments Foreign Investment Board. This process must be completed and can take up to 3 months as it all depends when the board sits. The purpose of this approval is to ensure that you are in a position to pay property taxes and that you are not buying up a lot of land etc.
On Tuesday I will be in Eleuthera and can not wait to drop up to the house to see that everything is going well. You can be assured that I will drop a post with some pictures as the season has changed since I was last there, and all thought there has been no water on the Island I am sure the mangoes trees will be heavy with fruit.
Till next week, thanks for dropping, as the days pass I am sure I will have more exciting posts.
